ACT

The ACT is a test used by universities and colleges to determine how likely a student is to succeed in pursuing a course of higher education. It is neither an intelligence test nor a test of how "good" a student may be. It is important to understand that having a 4.0 or higher GPA is no guarantee of success on the test, nor is a less-than-stellar GPA a sign that "failure" is inevitable. The ACT is a thing unto itself, requiring a specific set of skills and strategies for optimal performance. That is what Gold Star Tutoring focusses on teaching to students.

We are often asked whether the ACT is easier than the SAT. The simple answer is "no", but I have answered this rather complicated question in more depth here, and suggest you read this response.

The ACT has four sections, plus an optional essay. When you register for the test, make sure you are registering for the correct version (i.e. with or without essay). The colleges you are applying to may or may not require you to complete the essay part of the test, so be careful. If in doubt, go ahead and register for the version that includes the essay.
